four steps to change your money mindset.

If money and I had a FB relationship status back in 2008 it would have said –

“it’s complicated”

I was the girl that bounced many checks back in the day. Every time my account drew negative I was filled with so much shame. I had debt collectors calling me on the phone on bills that I didn’t even know I had. I wasn’t good with finances, and I felt powerless to change it. My money story sucked and it influenced so much of my mindset and I didn’t even know it.

(spoiler alert this blog post is not about financial advice it’s about getting rid of the mindset that comes from a bad history with money)

 

Do you feel like you can’t catch a break? It’s time to reverse the assignment of power. Somewhere along the line, we’ve assigned the power to circumstances, powerless to increase my income. There is no shame in this, I have been there so many times. This is a sign of a victim mentality and functions out of a powerless place.  Here are four steps to reverse the power and change your money mindset.

 

1.  Identify. (the common theme, ie… every time there is financial hardship it feels like my fault)) We can’t build for success without identifying the struggle. Once you’ve identified the hard things you can fix them.
2. Reverse the assignment of power.
3. Do you feel powerful or powerless when it comes to money? (not what you think you should say)  .
4. Write down back the very first time something negative happened to you in regards to your finances. (first bounced check, not having enough money at the register etc) Write out a forgiveness statement (to yourself) it looks like this.

“I forgive myself for ( ie…overdrawing my account), for not knowing how to manage my finances, I forgive me and I release myself from any guilt or shame from that experience. I know who I am, and I am trustworthy. I make wise business and financial decisions” 

 

Say it out loud, your ears need to hear the truth about yourself.

 

Life does happen, unexpected hurdles happen. But you are a powerful person to navigate all that is thrown at you and increase your finances in the future!

If we start in with a mindset that says, “I can never get enough”  you’re going to produce that you never have enough. IT SCIENCE. Our brain is trained to find proof of what we believe. 

Once you’ve retrained your brain, we get to think creatively for even more ventures. To expand your finances. It’s completely noble to want to grow your finances. But to be able to do that, money can’t be the enemy.

 

When you do that, you are no longer the victim. Creating new opportunities for you and your family. Bringing your gifts, strengths to the world. Impacting others with your voice.

By going back in your heart and forgiving those things, you make room for the new wonderful things that is waiting to burst out of you!

 

You have now UNLOCKED the ability to dream, to think creatively. Your creativity is only limited by your belief system. If you are wanting to increase your income and you know something you’re doing isn’t working? There are 3 things you need to do right off the bat. 

1. You need to clean house in your mindset. Through identifying toxic thought patterns and forgiving past mistakes
2. Make space for creative wildly capable thought processes to happen. Write it out dream big, say no to hiding, and step into action. 
3. Get support, stay in action, help with strategy, and make those wild dreams a reality.

 

Guess what? The seats at the table are limitless. Like literally there is a spot saved for you. I can’t take it up. The spot is saved just for you. What you have inside of you, is so wildly amazing. The world needs it. 

Your strengths, gifts, and abilities get unveiled, and these toxic thoughts and mindset patterns of worthlessness get taken out like the garbage it is. So that you can show up, make an income while making an impact. 

List out the dreams in your heart, that maybe feel a little too much, a little too cocky to even think? What are your wild dreams, audacious dreams? Write it down.

You have the power to change your future.
